Our story started over 100 years ago
For more than a century, in the place where the courtyard of the pension is now, there was a water mill and a whirlwind, a household ensemble known as “ Nichita's Mill ”. At the mill, the villagers of Glod and the neighboring villages ground corn, and at the whirlwind, woolen sacks and clothes were washed daily.
The original millstones were carved by our ancestor, Nichita. We proudly placed them at the foundation of the house, so you can still see them today if you come by. The whirlpool is still functional, as a focal point of the stream that runs through our yard.
For more than a century, on the site where the pension's courtyard now stands, there was a water mill and a whirlpool, a household ensemble known as "Nichita's Mill". The mill was used to grind maize by the villagers of Glod. The whirlpool was used to wash woollen rugs and clothes every day. The original millstones were carved by our ancestor, grandfather Nichita. We proudly placed them at the foundation of the house, so you can see them today if you come and visit us. The whirlpool is still functional, as a focal point of the stream that runs through our yard.
The dishes we serve are based on local, ancient recipes, handed down from generation to generation. We prepare them with love, from local ingredients, to bring back to the table the taste of yesteryear.
From the grandmother, Mama Maria, you will learn to wear with pride the Maramureșean costume, as she is one of the famous craftsmen of traditional shirts of Glod village and beyond.
Preparatele pe care le servim au la bază rețete locale, străvechi, moștenite din generație în generație. Le pregătim cu drag, din ingrediente locale, pentru a readuce la masă gustul de odinioară. De la bunica, Mama Maria, veți învăța să purtați cu mândrie costumul maramureșean, ea fiind unul dintre renumiții meșteri populari de cămăși tradiționale ai satului Glod și nu numai.
Glodeanca is a bridge between generations. It is the joy of reliving the charm of yesteryear, both for the little ones and for the big ones. In 100 years a lot has changed, but the values that our ancestors left us as a legacy still represent the culmination of our story, of the story from Glodeanca.
Glod Village, just 10 km from Bârsana Monastery, is a place filled with tradition. The pension is located in the middle of nature and the silence is interrupted only by the sound of water flowing in the courtyard or the singing of birds.
